Britain is going through it’s one of it’s greatest periods of change since the second world war facing a series of connected problems; from public debt to low growth, weak productivity, skills gaps, housing scarcity and collapsing trust in institutions, all the while seeing the collapse of the rule based international order, major war in Europe and radical new technologies about to transform our lives.
Utilising some of the thinking from a long career, this site proposes a joined-up framework for national renewal which treats these problems as part of an overall framework founded on a simple principle: a stronger Britain is one in which every citizen has the capability to succeed, the opportunity to contribute, and the chance to build a stake in the nation’s prosperity.
This is a non political site – the proposals are based on things which have worked to deliver business renewal and improvement in many industries, including large multinational enterprises, with a focus on mindsets and abilities which are needed for renewal in any context.
We want to start a conversation – and there is one big rule; it’s about solutions. If you don’t think a proposal is useful then your comment should say what you would do instead.

Our aim is not simply to create more wealth, but to broaden the ownership of the productive assets that generate it. That principle connects every part of this framework—from education and housing to industry, investment and public service reform.

How does the Renewing Britain site work?
– There are initial proposals and discussion on each of the areas where we seek solutions. We invite anyone to add a comment to the discussion. There is one big rule: if you do add a comment in response to a post, say what you would do instead.
– The proposals are being built over time so some sections will have more detail than others and may edit solutions in response to the comments.
